Episode 25: All's well that ends well? Not yet!

Episode 25:  Thoughts Fall Short
(届かぬ想い Todoka nu omoi)

Chapters covered: 550 through the end of 555

As I had predicted to be necessary, 555 was included. Now, you may be thinking, "STARKS, THAT'S 6 CHAPTERS! SUNRISE HAD TO HAVE FUCKED IT UP, I JUST KNOW IT!". Drop those thoughts, they are unfounded. If anything, Sunrise could've made it into 556 if they wanted to.

While the final battle with Naraku was dull and repetitive, you can blame Rumiko for that. She had handled it poorly to the point where Sunrise couldn't even pad it if they wanted to. I wasn't expecting Final Form Naraku to be a rusty brown, but Sunrise made the battle look good where it counted though. The attack stances for Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru looked awesome as they used Meidou Zangetsuha and Bakusaiga respectively. Naraku's death was handled quite well though.

The second half of the episode was dedicated, perhaps to a fault, mostly to 554. Unlike 550-553 and 555, 554 was not very compressible, a recurring attribute associated with Modern Era scenes throughout Final Act. I'm not happy with how long it took, but it had to be done. At least 555 was given enough time.

For those of you wondering, the Shikon no Tama is being voiced by Tohru Furuya, the man behind the voices of Yamcha and Amuro.

Strangely, the promised new background music for 25 was extremely underwhelming and I'm not even sure if they were new tracks. The two instances I noticed were during Naraku's crash along the ground and while Inuyasha was confronted by the youkai of the Shikon no Tama.

Next week is the final episode. Preview looks promising. Elements of the epilogue are mentioned, but perhaps appropriately, they are not shown. Only material from 556 is seen. Nevertheless, Sunrise has paced things perfectly such that the finale can be done correctly. Right now, the only question that remains is how the episode will be divided. For me, I think 558 needs at least half of the episode, however doing that might take away from the emotion and drama of 556 and 557. Whatever will happen, will happen, I guess.

Finally, while the inevitable dub has yet to be announced, Kelly Sheridan, the English voice of Sango has said on her Facebook wall that "things are looking positive for Final Act".

Edit: If anyone claims that there will be bonus material for the finale, they are unsourced speculators. Ignore them unless they can prove it.

Episode was good overall, but I was hoping that the aftermath would have its own episode; as I predicted it won't. *sigh* I can't complain though. I've thoroughly enjoyed this Final Act series. I'm very, very sad that there is only one episode left. But we still got the english adaption (which will hopefully be good).
Glad to hear Kelly Sheridan is coming back! :D

0 0 WOW THIS WAS REALLY GOOD!!!

Let me break the news to all of you. I SAW THE EPISODE! I COULDNT STAY away from it. I had planned to wait till next week but i magined what it would be like, and the NEW MUSIC is opened me to the confirmation of the Hype worth todays episode.

Thing is, i did see ONLY HALF the episode, or at least the point where we check back to the Fuedal Era AFTER immediately AFTER Narakus Death. I CAN Still wait to watch the second half until next week!

And STARKS i knew the chapters would come out the way they did. i just knew. I wasnt trying to sound like it was predictable. I just had hope. NOW i know for certain we will be seeing Bonus Material next week.

I just knew it. to the point where i was so excited and jumped twice cause of the well worth viewing. i jumped during the end of Narakus attack on Kagome, when that strange NEW music was playing.

Ill write my review of episode 25, and 26 in time.

The thing about my former reviews for episode 21 and to the end of 24, was that they are somewhat invalid, since the things i had knitpicked showed up in THIS episode, unlike earlier in the final chapters of the original manga, and its version of this arc.

BAsically most of the things i wanted to knitpick like (Sesshomaru using Bakusaiga and Naraku cutting off the lower half of his body) etc, showed up least when i expected. theres no need for the reviews i was going to write. I will be doing one for late this week though.

Sorry about all that you guys. i hope your looking forward to reading mine, in a more professional stance anyway. It pays being a write. I just love it.

My first impression of the episode was clouded by my excitment of the series coming to an end. It was so nice to exprerience the same feeling that I had when the manga was coming to a close. Anyways, first impression

Sorry, didn't mean to cut myself off (D'OH) Firt impression: HOLY F-ING GOD! SO COOL~! I loved it, I'm going to watch it again tonight to really analyse it and give a better description on what I thought about the details, from the music to the art to the voice acting (pesonally I thought hearing the usually calm voice of Kagome's mom freaking out was cool).

ffffffff I love when people claim things without any kind of source.
Lately, I've been searching for any news about an English dub. And I constantly read "YES IT'S PREMIERING ON APRIL 20, 2010 ON ADULTSWIM!!!" but I never see any source. It makes me laugh, how stupid they can be.

New music was new. It made it feel like a movie. But it was okay, I guess.

I'm really surprised, to say the least. When I heard that the InuYasha anime would continue, I was so excited. Then I read that it would only be 26 episodes.. I knew it had to be a mistake, or that the creators were crazy; there was nooo way they could fit 200 chapters into ONLY 26 episodes (especially considering that it took 167 episodes to cover over 350 chapters). But, I have been proven wrong. Sure, at times, it was extreeeemly fast-paced. But, for the most part, I feel that they have animated the bulk of the manga chapters quite well.

As for this episode, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The animation was amazing (and strangely reminded me of the fourth movie), and it stayed true to the manga. Starks posted about new background music, but I agree with him about it really not being “new.” Even the two instances that he suggested, I had to listen very closely to notice it.

I’m interested to see the final episode. We all know what’s suppose to happen in the end; however (call me a die-hard fan, I don’t care), I want the kiss InuYasha and Kagome deserve. After their long journey, their struggles, and ALL their fluff, I want to see the animators sneak in a kiss. When I read the final chapter of the manga, I was a tad disappointed that we didn’t get one, even though we’re lead to believe that they get married. I know it would satisfy many of the InuYasha fans out there to see one.
However, if they choose to stay “true” to the manga, and not show one, I wouldn’t be mad. I’m just happy to see that the manga and anime I’ve grown up with and loved, finally gets a decent end (and not the crap “ending” they tried to pull off in episode 167).

PS: To all those who suggest or hope for bonus material in the final episode, don’t get your hopes up. There may be a scene or two that shows how the 3 years pass for everyone, or maybe a more “fitting” reunion between Kagome and all her friends, but I really wouldn’t count on it. If you have read the final chapter of the manga (which I‘m sure 99% of us have), expect to see just that, and maybe the kiss I, and many others, secretly wish for. :]

I dunnooooo. I think Rumiko may have not had those two kiss for a reason. I'm not quite sure what the reason is just yet… xD But I'm sure there is one; otherwise it would've happened.

I'll one day write an extreme essay about it. Maybe.

I see some Uncanny, and fantasy thoughts on what should happen next.

Lets try to avoid discussing the fangirl desires of wanting to make Sunrise give Sesshomaru his own show…

Hey, wow! After a beer and a peanutbutter sammich(breakfast of taiyoukais everywhere), ep 25 was kinda awesome. The music wasn't that underwhelming and I thought the action held my attention pretty well.
What was underwhelming was Naraku in general. He looked like a badly drawn 80s cartoon. I felt like I was watching Mumra from the Thunder Cats in some scenes, sorta.

Meanwhile, I hear Sessh and Rin are making their own show and Ayame is expecting a litter of Ginta's pups. So much for Kouga.

As for AS getting the Final Act, yippee for them. I haven't watched IY on AS in a really, really long time cuz there's Bleach and FMA Brotherhood instead. Good times. I was waiting to hear Ichigo scream "Getsuga Tenshou" when everyone else (minus Kouga) was yelling/using theirs against Naraku….

Yes, the end is upon us and it sorta sucks major flying miasma chunks but then we all knew it had to come to end at some point. I will always be an IY fan even after the end. And a Bleach fan and an FMA fan and an AS fan…..

I agree with you Starks
I didn't really like how much time was spent in the present era either, if anything else I think a bit of it could have been cut out completly, like the part with Kagome in the shrine and reliezing no one can see her. As I was watching I just kept looking at the time on the bottom of the screen and was like "come come get on with wit get it this part!"
I honestly thought more would be covered this week
guess my own estimations are off

I liked how they did the preview though
hearing clips from later but not showing any of it
I am getting that same feeling in my gut I got when the manga ended
its just like "IT CAN'T BE OVER! ALREADY!?"

I almost don't want next week to come!
but then again
I'm anxious for the english dub
if and when it is dubbed
I sure hope they at least rallyed up all the main voice actors
ones I wouldnt care if they changed would be Kohaku and Rin, and maybe even Kaede
everyone would just not feel right with a slightly diffrent voice

Also I won't look forward to a sneeked in kiss
I know it wont happen
I guess I'll just have to watch that 2nd movie over and over
urgh

the only thing I want for the final episode is for Sunrise to change it a little bit and either let InuYasha and Kagome have a wedding and/or kiss, thats all I wish for! Doubt its gonna happen but.. who knows?

So depressing that is all over monday!! :(

*sigh*

Just finished re-reading the end of the manga again (yay, thanks for the downloads, Starks!). Still a little bittersweet and dang it if she could have just thrown that kiss in there! A peck, some tongue action, something that says "OMFG! I missed you, I love you, I'm staying here with you forever…, SOMEthing. Bah, it's just the romantic in me I guess. Anyways, can't wait to see InuYasha and Sesshoumaru's faces animated with the "if-looks-could-kill" look when Kagome yells out to said Lord, "Onii-saan!" Squee!! It's the last episode of this beautiful anime! T_T I'll go huddle and cry in a corner now, *sniff, sniff*

Okay, a little better now. Starks, do you plan on keeping this site for as long as you can for future admirers of InuYasha or will you change the site to something new, as in a new manga or just something that you'll be able to have time for? In either case, Thank You for all the hard work you put into this site, and for uploading THE BEST scanlations ever! I looked forward every week to the new chapters and was never disappointed in the quality. Maybe some of the story, but never the look of the chapters themselves. So again, thank you for the scanlations and the links and everything else InuYasha that was newsworthy out there. Good luck to your studies and I will be dropping by every once in awhile just to see what you and everyone else is up to! Ja-Ne!

Okay, I have a little something to add from the last episode where in the last scene, everyone is pretty much gathered and InuYasha says "Yeah, we're all here!" and everyone was complaining that Kouga wasn't there and why wasn't he included and all that. But Starks, you probably already knew that he might not be there at the end, huh? I mean, when you made this new layout, ie. the banner, you included all the players that would face Naraku at the end. Kikyo okay maybe not, but she still is knda there, what with Kohaku living with a piece of Kikyo/Kagome in him (and I really don't feel like getting into that argument). So, yeah I just wanted to throw in my last two cents before the tax man comes to collect. I know, I know, I'm a little slow, (okay, alot). It's just something I noticed is all. Okay, now I'm out!
