Episode 21: Inside Naraku
(奈落の体内へ Naraku no tainai e)

Chapters covered: 530 through half of 534

Shinichi Sakuma earned a very bad reputation for his second rate animation direction for the first Inuyasha anime. To his credit, he's improved for Final Act, but then you have episodes like this week's…

First, the good: This week was pretty panel-for-panel with a few exceptions. There was also budget-breaking use of CG animation for Spider Naraku and it looked very nice

The bad: Important lines regarding Naraku's plans for the future from chapter 530 were omitted.

The ugly: 3 minutes of footage from the original anime. If you look closely, you can see that even a scene from "Owarinae Yume" (Inuyasha OP3) was included. It must take a special level of desperation to do that. Probably makes sense when you waste half of an episode's budget on computer generated animation.

Next week should cover at least through the end of chapter 538. Atsuo Tobe returns to animation direction and from what I see in the preview, we may be in for a treat. At least, I hope so…

On the issue of pacing, things look very stable at an average 4 to 4.5 chapters per episode.

I noticed that they added a scene from one of the openings too. Hmmm… strange…
Anyway, I did enjoy this episode over all.
Can't wait till next Monday! :D

I enjoyed this episode but I felt a little disappointed in it as well…They made it kinda cheesy lol. Especially the part with demon Inuyasha, I couldn't wait to see that part and I felt like it was kinda corny.

There wasn't enough drama in that scene.

I noticed the clips from the opening, too. The song started playing in my head; "O-wa-ra-in-na-e yu-me!"

The only bad thing about this episode was that there was not enough emotion at the end with demon Inuyasha and Kagome.

Besides that, this episode was great!

I think naraku as spider in the manga is so much scary you know. I cried in this episode twice XD.
One at the scene when kagome is graduating. and the second one was when miroku tells sango to get married once everything is finished. XD

we are even closer to the end D:
SIGH

Or you could call it Rehasha of the Yasha.

It was a good ep overall. I still get queasy when I see
Kikyou die again and again. The pain she must've felt before she passed….

I fast forwarded through the beginning, then spent the last few minutes of the episode shouting, "Fall, fall, fall, fall!" to Kagome. Seriously, no joke xD

mapyes I found all the old footage a waste of time.
at least 30 seconds of that could have been used on the demon Inuyasha scene
and HOW MANY times do we need the explantion of onigumo in that cave at the begining of an episode
anyway
next weeks episode already looks very good from the preview
the animation too
AND I LOVE
that in the preview they made Kagomes arm bleed more while she was hanging there
I ALWAYS WONDERED ABOUT THAT IN THE MANGA
she is hanging by her cut arm the entire time and acts like shes perfectly fine
so I'm like SHEESH doesnt that hurt!?
maybe in the next episode she will actually show some more signs of pain, that really adds so much more to the mood.

but all in all
I was super excited for this episode and it just didn't turn out that great to me
really just a build up episode
but you always need those so

ALSO
Is this a NEW Inuyasha video game? OR what? I can't really tell http://websunday.net/inuyasha
it kind of just looks like battle scenes incorporated through still pictures
but still looks interesting
and a new "Best of" album to! WOO!

^^^Oooh, that does look like a game. It doesn't look like one for a regular console though- more like a handheld. DS please?

I don't exactly believe your claim, but if it's true and an 8 year old 2 second video clip brings the song to your head, then you have one hell of a photographic memory.

Hm, downplayed ending?
In the manga I know I should have expected it, but I was truly shocked when he transformed. In this episode-not so much…
They rushed that scene and thus stripped the drama, but nonetheless, there are plenty of other cliffhangers and climactic bits I'm hoping will be elongated in the next couple of weeks.

Bakusaiga looks soo cool!

it's such a pretty episode! there's almost no differences between the animated version and the manga. Just a litle 2, but i think there are just details XD
