Good times with weapons

Yeah, the delays are getting a bit ridiculous… The whole thing is making me feel irrelevant and obsolete as a scanlator dedicated to speed. However, it's really beyond my control at this point. At any rate, short of buying an issue of Shonen Sunday (which I may do) or resorting to less than honorable means, I can't do anything. I sincerely hope this all temporary. Also, the archives are still down and I am working on fixing it. As for One-Pound Gospel, I am also working on it.

Anyway, I've had interesting weekend which included massive amounts of drinking, sleeping, and getting shot with an airsoft pistol. (Don't ask…)

mapOne more thing… I could really use your help on finding domestic retailers (online or otherwise) of current Shonen Sunday issues. The one that I've been eyeballing, Sasuga Books, doesn't get the latest issue until around a week after it comes out in Japan. If you can track down an retailer that gets their issues any earlier, or even sells Shonen Sunday, tell me. Additionally, if you can find a retailer within the Baltimore and/or Washington D.C. metropolitan area, that would be great. If you have any info, feel free to e-mail me or leave a comment. I only ask for your help because I don't want to be 100% reliant on our Anonymous Friend, and left high and dry when there is a delay.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Poll added…

Hi,

I'll check at the Kinokuniya here (NYC) and let you know this afternoon. If I manage to get the current issue, I can mail it tomorrow.

I've also been looking at Kinokuniya but I was unsure if they did orders over the phone. If you do go to Kinokuniya, make sure the issue is #29… (BTW, thanks in advance.)

Edit: Kinokuniya NYC is sold out of issue #29… They will be getting issue #30 tomorrow morning or Wednesday morning.  (Quote)

Starks: I don't know if they get current issues, but Ginza, inc in D.C. carries untranslated manga. Also Taiga Bookstore on Rockville Pike may carry manga. Sorry to be so vague, neither store has any web presence.

Placed an order at Taiga for #29. I'll be pouncing on Kinokuniya NYC and Kinokuniya Nyack for #30 tomorrow morning. They both sold out within hours last week.

Thanks David. I'll also be looking for more alternatives after class today.

I guess spending $10 a week on manga isn't so bad… I don't even start my summer job until mid-July… <_<

Okay. I managed to get #29! …and you've ordered it lol.

I ended up going to the Mitsuwa complex in NJ, where they had back issues and are expecting #30 on Wednesday. It looks like they'll ship, so here's their contact info:

I'm glad you all offered to buy the issue for me, but rest assured, I have things covered… All things considered, I could never ask you guys to throw down money for my sake.

Clearly, I have been working with Japanese too much lately, because I initially read that last line differently.  But seriously, if you ever find yourself in the Portland area, your sake is on me.

You are wise to not go through Sasuga.  I have a subscription with them, and I exepct to receive #28 today.  Usually it arrives Fridays, but the last few have been Mondays.

it must be kinda nice to live near a metropolitan area that has places like that where you can get things that are published in other countries.  i'd have to drive atleast 3 hours to get somewhere like that.  i love the area i live in, but we're really limited here as far as stuff like that goes.

*sigh*

well, know that i'd help out with this situation if i could!

I like this site for the comments and the funny pages. If I have to wait to download, so be it. No biggie!  (Quote)

Hi!

I was wondering if you could answer a question about the One-Pound Gospel Manga… I was told you might have and upload chapters 30-33.

I can't find 30, 31, 32… I did read 33… which is also incomplete… -_-

Is there a way you could let me know about it?

Thank you very much in advance!  (Quote)
